Therapeutic Foster Care
Therapeutic foster care provides a higher level of care for youth who have higher behavioral and emotional needs. Rather than entering residential treatment, therapeutic foster care allows these kids to receive extra services and support while staying in a home/family setting.
Youth Unlimited values therapeutic foster care because it gives foster parents a concrete framework for understanding and working with kids who have higher needs. Foster parents are equipped with the knowledge and resources to help kids build life skills and thrive: personally, socially, and academically.
Types of Care
Under the umbrella of therapeutic foster care, Youth Unlimited serves three populations of youth.
As a youth placement agency, we work to place our youth in therapeutic foster homes and provide them with case management and 24/7 support services. We contract with Oregon Youth Authority to provide placements for youth who have gone through the justice system, and with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) to find homes for youth in the state's custody.
In addition to these populations, we also provide behavioral health treatment foster care — an even higher level of support — for youth with specific mental health needs.
